Cover Gallery

The catalogs are filled with great imagery and writing, but there’s no doubt that the covers are the real stars. They have such variety and interest, with striking colors, superb illustration and whimsical compositions. Always a delight to find one waiting in the mailbox.

Thanks to the generosity of former Banana Republic staff artist Kevin Sarkki we get a rare look at the earliest catalogs dating back to 1979! The catalog was duo-tone, two colors, for the first few years. The arrival of more expensive color printing in 1984 seems to coincide with the infusion of money when BR was sold to The GAP.
